Description

Planmed Verity® provides high-resolution 3D images for extremities and maxillofacial areas at low dose using the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology.

The overall Verity look and compact design can be used as mobile unit or stand alone. It can easily fit in any existing x-ray room or side by side with other portable imaging devices.

CBCT technology provides up to 10 times lower radiation dose compared to conventional Medical Device CT scanner. Scattered radiation is significantly low with the use of 1 mm Pb equivalent shielding is recommended. Planmed Verity extremity scanner can also be equipped with an integrated radiation shield to protect the patient during the scan and it comes with a joystick to control gantry height and tilt, an integrated workstation and easily accessible positioning with laser light.

Planmed also focused on saving patients unnecessary extra radiation via eliminating the affect of patient movement using Planmeca CALM™ (Correction Algorithm for Lateral Movement), which makes it excellent for imaging. The Planmed Verity® scanner can now be used with this revolutionary algorithm and it will save time for clinicians. Planmed CALM can be applied either before or after image capture. This ensures that volumes are automatically corrected before they can be transferred for permanent archiving

Clinical Practice

Orthopedic Imaging with Planmed Verity®

According to Planmed, with arthrography studies, contrast medium is injected into the joint. It outlines soft tissue structures, making them clearer to see in images. With the support of arthrographic images, physicians can better evaluate alterations in the function and structure of a joint and help to determine the possible need for treatment, such as arthroscopy, joint replacement, or open surgery. Additionally, the procedure is used to assist in diagnosing unexplained and persistent joint discomfort or pain.

Planmed confirms that the benefit of using Planmed Verity® in arthrography lies in its CBCT technology. The extremity scanner’s high resolution combined with the use of contrast media ensures a better visibility of the cartilage layer than when using MRI or CT technologies. In addition, the isotropic data provided by Planmed Verity allows more freedom in analysing the area of interest.

Weight-bearing imaging

Standing knee, ankle, foot , toes under natural load reveals problems otherwise non-discernible.

3D image of a standing patient shows the anatomy in a natural position, and can reveal problems that are otherwise non-discernible, such as diminished joint space.
